Forest Deptt hosts Extempore Speech Competition in Kiphire

As part of its ongoing environmental awareness campaign, the Forest Department organized an Extempore Speech Competition at Government Higher Secondary School, Kiphire, on June 3. The initiative aims to instill a sense of responsibility and environmental consciousness among the younger generation.

The short program began with a speech by Chupitho (SFS), Assistant Conservator of Forests, Kiphire Division, who emphasized the importance of such events in building foundational environmental knowledge and awareness.

A total of 20 students from Classes 11 and 12 — both male and female — participated in the competition.

The winners of the competition were:

1st Prize – Dolen Ama T Chang, Class 11 Science

2nd Prize – Akhamong T Sangtam, Class 11 Arts

3rd Prize – Gyan Darnal, Class 12 Science

The environment campaign, which began on May 27, will continue until June 5, culminating in observance of World Environment Day.
