Faithful flocked to attend the Mother’s Day Eucharist in large numbers, felicitating and thanking mothers for their love and presence at St. Francis de Sales (SFS) Parish, Kohima Town, on Sunday.
Leading the Sunday Liturgy and invoking God’s blessings upon mothers during the Angami Mass, Rev Fr C Joseph, Counsellor of St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous) Jakhama, served as the main celebrant.
He extended greetings and wished them well, reminding the congregation that one of the greatest gifts God can give is motherhood.
In his homily, Fr Joseph spoke of how God entered the world and fulfilled His divine mission through the heart of a mother, emphasizing the deep influence Mother Mary exerted through her Son, Jesus Christ.
He further cautioned the faithful against external efforts to sow division within the Christian community through misinformation, urging them to draw upon God’s strength to remain steadfast in their faith.
Teisovi Gerard Meyase provided the Tenyidie translation for the message.
The congregation sang hymns of praise, thanking the Almighty for the blessings of the day while also offering solemn prayers in memory of departed mothers.

The service lasted for an hour and a half, calling to pray for mothers’ physical and spiritual well-being as part of their duty as children.
Thejaze-ü Anna conducted the proceedings, while Rajuseto Robert and Razoulhoutuonuo Rosemary served as the day’s lectors. Thepfusalie Thomas administered “The Prayer of the Faithful.”
The order of Mass also included the Introductory Rites, Penitential Act, the Liturgy of the Word, and the Liturgy of the Eucharist, featuring a special invocation of blessings upon children.
Nouneno Julia and R. Rocus Chasie offered heartfelt reflections on maternal devotion and strength, while the ACYA, SFS Parish choir provided the liturgical music.
