Gau Dhwaj Yatra will not be allowed under Kohima district: DC

Kohima: Yatra refused permission in apprehension of public disturbance

The Deputy Commission, Kohima, Kumar Ramnikant, IAS, has notified that the Gau Dhwaj Yatra will not be allowed under Kohima district.

The Order stated: “Pursuant to the directives received from the State Government, the Gau Dhwaj Yatra (promotion of ban on cow slaughter) shall not be allowed under Kohima district on account of apprehension of disturbance of public order and in view of the provisions contained in para (1) (a) (i) of Article 371 (A) of the Constitution of India.”

The ‘Gau Dhwaj Sthapana Bharat Yatra’ is part of the ‘Gau Pratishtha Andola’ which seeks to make India free of cow slaughter. The organisers had proposed for a programme to be held at Nagaland’s Capital Kohima on 28th September 2024 which triggered a widespread condemnation from all corners.

On 11the September, the State Cabinet decided not grant permission for the proposed programme.
