The Sports Week at the Government Higher Secondary School, Kiphire concluded on Saturday with an overall excitement and satisfaction from participants and teachers. The event kick-started on 1st August 2024, at Public Ground, Kiphire.

Addressing the gathering on the inaugural day, the Principal reminded the students that sports is not just about winning or losing, but about the journey, the learning, and the growth. “Every sweat, every tear, and every triumph is a testament to your hard work and perseverance… sports teach us valuable life skills, discipline, communication, and resilience. They help us develop our character, build our confidence, and foster friendships that last a lifetime”, he said.

The principle also lauded the efforts of the teachers in guiding and mentoring the students and stated, “Your passion and expertise is instrumental in helping our students reach their full potential.”

Further, he expressed his gratitude to the parents “for your unwavering support and encouragement. Your presence here today means the world to our students, and we are grateful for your partnership in their educational journey.”

The Principal also remarked: “As we celebrate our school’s sports week, let us remember the true spirit of sportsmanship; respect, fair play and kindness. Let us cheer each other on, lift each other up and celebrate our differences. So let the games begin, let us show our school spirit, our teamwork, and our determination. Let us make this sports week one to remember and learn from one another.”

Overall, there were four houses/groups competing with one another in varying categories such as volleyball, football, 100 metre race, rally race, javelin throw, badminton amongst others.

The overall champion of the Sports Week 2024 went to Blue House followed by Yellow and Green House. Green House secured champions of football with Yellow House as runners up. Best disciplined House went to Red House for their wonderful display of discipline during sports week.

The sports week ended with prize distribution to individual winners and group which was followed by bonfire and torch bearing.
