The Lerie Women Organisation organised the Pre Teachers’ Day celebration held at Government Middle School for Children with Special Needs (CWSN), Kohima in Lerie Colony, Panchayat Hall on 4th September 2024.
Speaking at the occasion, Dr Hovithal Sothu, Project Director, TaFMA, Government of Nagaland, lauded the efforts of teachers in government schools who are contributing towards changing trends and transforming education system in the schools. He said that government schools no longer lives in the past and pointed out that the government appoints the most qualified teachers and they are making good contribution in their appointment.
The TAFMA director advised the teachers to reflect on the Nagaland government servants conduct rules, 1968 and reminded them that the government is paying them good remuneration. In this regard, Sothu asked them to maintain highest integrity while working as government employees The speaker also added that teachers therefore must put highest priorities on their students so as to impart quality education as envisioned by the government. He added that when a school is performing well, even the society and government takes interest of the school. Sothu also stressed on employees not to do anything that is unbecoming of a government servant.

The speaker further advised the students to be diligent in their studies and obey their parents and teachers which in turn will reap blessing and success to become someone important in the society. Sothu also assured that rewards will be given to first rank holders in the final exams during the academic sessions.
Head teacher, Kedivi Mekro while delivering a speech on behalf of the teachers spoke about the initiatives that the school is undertaking to impart quality and holistic education. He said the responsibility and leadership has been given to teachers to bring innovative ideas both through academically and on extra co-curricular activities.
Mekro informed that during the academic year, the school have 154 students including 18 CWSN; along with 14 primary teachers, 1 Montessori teacher and 2 inclusive teachers for CWSN and 12 SMC members.
