The Governor of Nagaland, La. Ganesan, visited Noklak on November 16, 2024, and addressed a gathering at the Tourist Lodge in Noklak. During his speech, he expressed ’is happiness at visiting the district and emphasized his commitment to interacting with the people across all districts of Nagaland.
In his address, the governor highlighted that Noklak which was established as a district on December 21, 2017, is still in its developmental phase. The Governor expressed optimism about the district’s progress and its potential to match other districts in infrastructure and growth.
Speaking on the Health and Wellness, he stressed on the importance of healthcare for the district’s future, further he encouraged the implementation of health schemes such as Ayushman Bharat, Pradhan Mantri Bima Yojana, and the Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme. He highlighted the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, aiming for TB eradication by 2025, and urged awareness and action from the District Health Authority.
Governor Genesan acknowledged the challenging terrain of road connectivity of the district but lauded the progress in road construction by PWD and NHIDCL. He assured that border areas would soon be well-connected.

He also underlined the role of education in societal progress and called for renewed commitment from educators, parents, and social leaders. He further emphasized that every child should have access to education.
Addressing on the pressing issue of drug abuse, particularly among youths as a major societal challenge, he urged the civil societies and law enforcement agencies to intensify efforts to check drug inflow, especially in border areas like Noklak.
He also highlighted the importance of collaboration between local communities, civil societies, and the government to address challenges and create a sustainable roadmap for the future. He called upon the citizens to actively engage in shaping the state’s progress.
The Governor assured his commitment to prioritizing Noklak’s development and fostering unity for a brighter future.
During the program, various departments of Noklak namely, Chief Medical Officer, Dub-Divisional Education Officer, Executive Engineer, PWD ( R & B), Sub Divisional Officer, (PHED) District Agriculture Officer presented their initiatives.
The memorandum was submitted to the governor appealing for objection of fencing at the Indo- Myanmar border, establishment of College and deployment of Gynealogist and Dental surgeon by Khiamniungan Tribal Council, Khiamniungan Students’ Union and Khiamniungan Menyiu Hoikam respectively.
Earlier, Welcome address was spoken by Deputy Commissioner, Noklak, Arikumba. Later the Governor held a Security Coordination Meeting with the security personnel.
