The State Taxes Department, Dimapur Unit carried out a field inspection from July 13 to 14 across various business establishments in Dimapur district as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen Goods and Services Tax (GST) compliance, promote awareness among traders and vendors, and verify business activities at the ground level.

The inspection was conducted by a team of officers led by the Deputy Commissioner of State Taxes, following an authorization issued by the Office of the Commissioner of State Taxes, Nagaland, under Section 67 of the Nagaland Goods and Services Tax (NGST) Act, 2017.

During the inspection, the officials verified the issuance of GST bills and invoices by registered vendors, conducted stock verification, reviewed business activities, and examined GST registration details to ensure compliance with the provisions of the NGST Act. The team also interacted with business owners to clarify GST-related queries and encouraged voluntary tax compliance.

As part of the awareness drive, officers educated traders and consumers on the importance of issuing and obtaining proper GST invoices, emphasizing that GST bills help ensure transparency, curb tax evasion, and contribute to the State’s development.

The Department reiterated that such field inspections and awareness drives will continue regularly to promote a fair, transparent, and compliant tax environment across Nagaland.
