Continuous heavy rainfall on the night of September 19 caused severe damage to houses, land sites, and properties at Forest Ward in Kiphire Town, leaving 10 families affected and raising fears that many more could be rendered homeless if urgent preventive measures are not taken.

One of the affected residents informed that the District Administration had offered an immediate relief of ₹3,000 per family, but the families declined the assistance, terming it grossly inadequate given the extent of the damage.

The residents have appealed to the State Government to provide a permanent solution, specifically by constructing a retaining wall to prevent future landslides and similar disasters. They warned that unless preventive measures are initiated without delay, many households in the area risk losing their homes to recurring rain-induced damages.
