Holy Family Church inaugurated at Laza-Phuyeqa

The newly constructed Holy Family Church at Laza-Phuyeqa was formally blessed and inaugurated on April 9 in a solemn ceremony attended by clergy, dignitaries and the faithful.

The Blessing and Holy Eucharist were presided over by Most Rev Dr James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima, who dedicated the church to the service of God and the community.

A key highlight of the programme was the unveiling of the tribute plaque by Y Vikheho Swu, former Minister of the Government of Nagaland and Managing Director of Okusa Toyota Pvt. Ltd, Nagaland.

Speaking on the occasion, Swu emphasized the need for the community to move forward not only spiritually but also economically.

He noted that the Catholic Church has played a significant role in shaping young minds through its contributions to education and spirituality.

He further stressed that development is essential for progress and highlighted various initiatives under the leadership of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio.

Citing examples such as local coffee enterprises, he remarked that coffee cultivation holds immense economic potential in Nagaland and can contribute to holistic growth.

Swu encouraged the people to explore opportunities in agriculture and allied sectors to ensure sustainable livelihoods and job creation.

The programme was hosted by Rev Fr Paul Inashe Sema, OFM Cap., Parish Priest, along with the Laza-Phuyeqa community. The church was donated by Danis Achumi and family.

The occasion marked a significant spiritual milestone, reflecting unity, faith, and the collective efforts of the people in establishing the new place of worship.
