The State Home Department held a review meeting on 30th July, 2026, to finalize preparations for the “Har Ghar Tiranga” 2026 campaign, scheduled to be observed across Nagaland from August 9 to 17. The meeting was chaired by the Home Commissioner, Abhijit Sinha, IAS, and brought together senior officials from the Art & Culture, Youth Resources & Sports, Information & Public Relations, School Education, Home and Police departments.
The discussion drew on a communication from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, outlining the scope of activities expected of state governments under this year’s campaign. Officials subsequently finalized the allocation of responsibilities across departments.
The Directorate General of Police would lead the Tiranga Rally, a large-scale procession expected to draw participation from students, youth groups, government personnel, armed forces representatives and community organizations, all carrying the National Flag in keeping with the Flag Code. The Art & Culture department will oversee the curated public display of the Ministry of Culture’s digital exhibition at high-footfall locations such as public squares, bus terminals and transport hubs.
Field-level coordination for cycle and e-bike rallies across districts and villages will be handled jointly by the Commissioner, Nagaland, and the Rural Development department. Illumination and decoration of public buildings, bridges, gates and markets with a Tiranga theme have been assigned to all administrative heads of departments, while campus artwork featuring patriotic themes and quotes from freedom fighters will be coordinated by the Higher & Technical Education and School Education departments.
The Information & Public Relations department would spearhead the accompanying media outreach, encouraging citizens to upload a “Selfie with Tiranga” on the official campaign portal: www.harghartiranga.com.

On the logistics front, the meeting noted that the state has placed a demand for 1.6 lakh National Flags, each measuring 30 by 20 inches, to be procured through the Department of Posts and received at a central hub in Dimapur under the Deputy Commissioner’s supervision. The Office of the Deputy Commissioner, will coordinate demand aggregation across districts, while the Police Headquarters, through the Additional Director General of Police (Administration), will arrange vehicle deployment to ensure smooth transit of the flags. Distribution staff have been directed to maintain detailed records of flags received and issued, with any undistributed stock to be returned to the Home Department through respective Deputy Commissioners once the campaign concludes.
At the district level, Deputy Commissioners would oversee planning and execution, working in coordination with Municipal Administrators as nodal officers for Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) and Block Development Officers (BDOs) for village-level implementation.
