A house in Medical Ward, Kiphire, was found to be on the verge of collapse following a spot verification conducted by the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) on September 7.

The verification was carried out by DDMA Kiphire District Project Associate (DPA) Berela T following a report about the condition of the structure.

As a precautionary measure, the affected family has been relocated to a safer location.

According to the assessment, the house poses a significant hazard to nearby houses and residents. The authorities have recommended that the structure be dismantled at the earliest to prevent any untoward incident and minimise further risk to surrounding properties.
