IDAN Chairman Abu Metha flags off Bee and Honey Trail at Kisama

Kisama: Honey from Nagaland can be one of State’s best ambassadors, Metha says

Advisor to Chief Minister and Chairman IDAN Abu Metha today flagged off the Bee and Honey Trail to Mima Village from the Heritage Village, Kisama.

The Bee and Honey Trail is designed as part of the Bee Tourism initiative and the main objective is to disseminate the importance of bee keeping to wider audience, through application of five senses and practical hands on. The trail is established at Mima Village so that bee enthusiasts and bee lovers can have an immersive bee keeping experience at the bee farms.

Speaking during the ceremony, Advisor to Chief Minister Abu Metha emphasized on the impact, scope, and the potential of beekeeping and stated that bee and honey is a multi billion dollar industry. It is a small step but very significant, because today, we are opening up the honey industry to the tourism industry. A new vertical has been created, said Metha.

He said the industry has huge potential to positively impact the livelihood of our citizens, especially in the agriculture and rural sector.

Metha asserted that in today’s day and age, progress, development, success and excellence can be achieved if people follow the new global mantras of not just innovating, but reimagining, in this line he said the Bee and Honey Trail is a reimagined project to link the industry and the economy of the bee and honey industry to the tourism mixture.

“You know that Government of Nagaland is aggressively promoting tourism – tourism at the grassroot level, experiential tourism for the outside world and I am excited that the Honey Mission and honey is now tourism mix on the stage,” added Metha.

Mentioning that honey from Nagaland can be one of the State’s best ambassadors, Metha said the product can contribute not just within ourselves but elevate the state economy and at the same time contribute towards humankind as a whole.
