Imchen’s attempts to fool the Nagas by creating false narratives will not succeed: NPYC

The Nagaland Pradesh Youth Congress (NPYC) has condemned what it deemed as “baseless and blatantly irresponsible” statements made by BJP MLA and Advisor, Imkong L. Imchen, alleging that the Gau Dhwaj Sthapana Bharat Yatra has been sponsored by the Congress.

“Such outright falsehood is not only misleading but is an insult to the intelligence of the Naga people. It is clear that Shri. Imchen, a political chameleon and a present BJP MLA, desperate to divert attention from the BJP’s flawed policies and controversial Hindutva stance, is attempting to spread misinformation and paint the Congress Party in bad light,” stated the NPYC.

It has urged Imchen to provide concrete evidence to back his claims, or withdraw his defamatory remarks immediately.

Asserting that the Congress Party has always stood for secularism and unity, respecting the rich diversity of cultures and tradition in India, including those of Nagaland, the NPYC expressed that the Gau Dhwaj Sthapana Yatra is an agenda being pursued by elements within the BJP and its affiliates, “reflecting their obsession with imposing their ideology on the entire nation”.

“Imchen’s attempts to fool the Nagas by creating false narratives will not succeed. The people of Nagaland are well aware of the BJP’s divisive policies and its attempts to impose majoritarian ideas on our culturally rich and diverse land. Instead of peddling lies, Shri. Imchen and his party should focus on delivering on their promises to the people and addressing the pressing concerns of unemployment, corruption and development in the state,” stated the NPYC.

Affirming its commitment to protect the rights and interests of the Naga People, the NPYC stated that it  will not allow the rich traditions and values of Nagaland to be eroded by the communal and divisive agenda of the BJP.
