Dr Vanlalthlana, Minister of School Education and Higher & Technical Education, Government of Mizoram, informed the State Assembly on Monday that a teacher of a government run school had been suspended for giving suggestions to his students who are appearing Class 10 board examinations. According to DIPR Mizoram, the Minister also said that the Mizoram Board of School had immediately launched an investigation on the matter and even questioned the teacher and students. MBSE has filed an FIR, Dr Vanlalthlana added.

“We are deeply saddened by this incident,” he said, clarifying that the department does not blame the students who received the suggestions.

The leak of the Class 10 Social Science question paper was flagged on the evening of 8th March when a screenshot of questions similar to those that came in the board exam earlier that day surfaced on social media. The Mizo students’ organisations promptly demanded investigation into the matter.

A similar paper leak incident was alleged in Nagaland where an English teacher allegedly gave ‘suggestions’ for the Class 12 English exam conducted by Nagaland Board of School Education. Around 18,000 students sat for the examination on 12th February 2024.

However, unlike in Mizoram, neither NBSE nor the Advisor made any statement regarding the matter. Even the students’ unions are yet to express concerns.
