Inaugural program of TRIBES project held at Sanphure Village, Kiphire

NABARD supported project on ‘Tribal Resilience Initiative for Building Environmentally Sustainable Livelihood (TRIBES)’ was inaugurated on May 21 by P. Bulte, General Manager, NABARD, Nagaland Regional office.

In the inaugural address, P. Bulte, provided a comprehensive overview of the project’s norms, implementation process, and long-term objectives, informed a press release. His address served to inform and inspire the attendees, setting a clear direction for the project’s execution. The project will be implemented through partner agency NEIDA in Sanphure, Tutheze, Pongren and Tsongpong villages under Longmatra block, Kiphire district.

Tiarenba Imsong, Programme officer (NEIDA) gave a brief overview of the project. The event marked a significant step towards sustainable agricultural development and livelihood improvement for farmers in the region.

The occasion was graced by the presence of Temsuwati Longkumer, Deputy Commissioner of Kiphire, who attended as the Special Guest and delivered an encouraging address, emphasizing the importance of agricultural progress and farmer empowerment.

Sentinungba, District Horticulture Officer of Kiphire, encouraged farmers to take full advantage of the project. He emphasized on the potential for value addition and future opportunities in crop processing and agribusiness and encouraged farmers to reach out to the department in times of need for advice and material inputs.

Representative from Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Kiphire, who outlined the objectives of the KVK’s presence in the district and spoke on the relevance of technology-driven cultivation methods. The representative also assured to addressed farmers’ queries and discussed the scope for technological advancement in the region’s agricultural practices.

The program concluded on a hopeful and determined note, with a collective commitment to drive agricultural transformation through community effort and institutional support. The programme was attended by Dr. Imsunaro(AGM), Imkongyanger Imchen (DDM), Department office, Banks, NEIDA representatives, Village Council leaders’ members, farmers and SHG representatives.
