The peculiar coriander plant growing in the kitchen garden of Yilobemo Erui from Wokha Village has been acknowledged as the ‘tallest coriander plant’ from the Guiness World Records.
“We are thrilled to inform you that your application for Tallest coriander plant has been successful and you are now the Guinness World Records Title Holder!” stated the confirmation mail received on 13th August 2024 from Guiness World Records by the Entrepreneurship Task Force, Wokha, that made the bid on behalf of Erui.
The record has also been posted on the official website of the Guiness World Records that states: “The tallest coriander plant is 2.77 m (9 ft 1.06 in) and was achieved by Yilobemo Erui (India) in Wokha, Nagaland, India, as measured on 25 April 2024.”
It also mentions, “Yilobemo Erui is driven by a passion for agriculture and a desire to showcase the rich agricultural heritage of the Lotha tribe. His aim in breaking a record is to bring attention to the potential of their farming practices and the quality of produce that they can cultivate, including his coriander plant which is now officially the tallest in the world.”
Erui is yet to receive the physical copy of the certification.

Besides Erui’s record, Nagaland’s name is also etched in the famous Books for four other records including:
– The largest traditional Konyak dance consists of 4,687 participants, and was achieved by The Konyak Union (India) in Mon, Nagaland, India, on 5 April 2019.
– World’s Largest Rhododendron tree discovered at Mount Japfü, Kohima,Nagaland 20 m or 65 ft. (Unverified)
– The largest electric guitar ensemble involved 368 participants, and was achieved by Sky Group (India) at Agri Expo, Dimapur, Nagaland, India on 12 January 2013. The event was organised to promote unity and peace in Nagaland. It involved participants between the age group of 11 to 70 years and performed on ‘Knocking on heaven’s door’ song by Guns N’ Roses.
– The highest assisted martial arts kick (male) is 4.39 m (14ft 5 in), and was achieved by the Faith in Action Martial Arts Academy (India), on the set of India’s Got Talent in Mumbai, India on 5 July 2023.
