Kiphire celebrates 76th Independence Day

Kiphire: Dance performances, a parade and display stalls were part of the celebration

Along with the rest of the country, Kiphire district celebrated the 76th Independence Day at public ground Kiphire.

Shri Kashiho Sangtam, honorable Minister for Soil & Water Conservation, Geology & Mining, addressed the gathering.

Kashiho conveyed warm greetings to the people of Kiphire and remembered the freedom fighters who gave their all for the Nation’s freedom.

He mentioned that Nagaland state along with the rest of the country was also progressing towards development.

He further urged the people and leaders from all corners of society to come forward towards a common goal while awaiting patiently for the Naga political solution.

Kashiho mentioned that as a result of various interventions, Nagaland state has been consistent in increasing foodgrains production which stands at 7,38,260 MT.

He pointed out that the farmers have successfully adopted horticulture crops such as pineapple, kiwi, passion fruit and dragon fruit besides coffee and tea, attracting buyers from both India and abroad.

The minister also mentioned various government schemes which benefit the poorest section of society in providing amenities like water, roads, house and toilets which are the basic needs of any society.

Agape High School Kiphire performed a Line Dance and Mr Yopichum gave a special number. JNV performed a special song and choreography while a cultural dance was performed by Tikhir Tribal Union Kiphire town and Aketa Sangtamlarü Thsingmüjung (AST).

A bold parade from different army units of Assam Rifles, NCC Units Kiphire, Scouts & Guides, NP was successfully done.

The minister also inaugurated the stalls of different NGO’s and government departments for display and sales.
