The District Congress Committee (DCC), Kiphire, has urged the Public Works Department (Roads & Bridges) to undertake immediate repair and maintenance of roads within Pungro Town, citing their deteriorating condition and the hardship caused to commuters, particularly schoolchildren.

In a representation addressed to the Executive Engineer, PWD (R&B), Kiphire, DCC President, K Tsalimong expressed concern over the poor state of roads in the town, stating that numerous potholes and damaged stretches have made commuting difficult and unsafe.

The representation highlighted that the situation has worsened during the ongoing monsoon season, with waterlogging, muddy conditions and damaged road surfaces posing serious challenges to school-going children. It stated that students are facing considerable hardship and safety risks while travelling to and from their schools.
