The Kiphire District Cricket Association (KDCA) marked its Silver Jubilee Anniversary with a celebration at the Public Ground in Kiphire.
Keynote speaker Takatemjen Ponger, NCS, EAC Kiphire HQ, emphasized the role of cricket in uniting people and fostering values such as discipline and teamwork. He urged for development of sports infrastructure and encouraged greater inclusivity, calling for more opportunities for youth, women, and people with disabilities.
In his welcome address, Justin Khatomong, President of KDCA, expressed gratitude to all pioneers and officials who contributed to KDCA’s success. He provided a brief history of the Association and its accomplishments over the last 25 years.
The event was chaired by Hopila S. Sangtam and commenced with an invocation led by Bhim Sapkota, Pastor of Nepali Baptist Church, Kiphire.
Later, two cricket matches were played, adding to the excitement of the occasion. The first match was played between Saramati Nexus and Kiphire Super Kings. The Saramati Nexus scored 158 runs for the loss of 9 wickets and bowled out Kiphire Super Kings for 80 runs.
In the second match, Kiphire Knight Riders claimed victory by scoring 151 runs for the loss of 7 wickets, successfully defending their score against Abide Club, who managed 149 runs with the loss of 9 wickets.
The day’s celebration highlighted Kiphire’s growing enthusiasm for cricket and the importance of nurturing local talent for the future.
