Kitenlo K. Thono wins Gold at National Games

Kitenlo K. Thono earned Nagaland’s first Gold Medal today at the ongoing National Games in Goa. Kitenlo K. Thono won in the 90-95 Kg Tanding Fight Category in Pencak Silat at the National Games.

Announcing the win on X, Abu Metha, Advisor to Chief Minister tweeted, “This is the BIG ONE ! GOLD MEDAL for NAGALAND !! So so happy and satisfying !! Congrats Mr. Kitenlo K. Thono. You have brought joy and made Nagaland proud.

The Nagaland Olympic Association also tweeted, “Nagaland’s own Mr. Kitenlo K. Thono shines at the National Games in Goa, claiming the individual Gold Medal in the 90-95 Kg Tanding Fight Category of Pencak Silat. A remarkable demonstration of his dedication and skill. Congratulations and best wishes for all your future endeavours.”

Kitenlo’s win brings Nagaland’s medal tally to three, following Liike Kibami’s silver medal and Naga women’s Regu Penkak Silat winning the bronze on October 28.

Congratulating Thono on X, Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio posted, “Gold Medal for Nagaland. Congratulations to Mr. Kitenlo K. Thono for winning the individual Gold Medal in the 90-95 Kg Tanding Fight Category in Pencak Silat at the National Games in Goa. This is a historic achievement and he has made entire Nagaland proud and joyous.”
