Kohima Forest Division releases book on flora and fauna of Forest Colony, Kohima

A book titled Feathers and Leaves: Flora and Fauna Documented in Forest Colony, Kohima was launched by Dharmendra Prakash IFS, PCCF & HoFF, Nagaland on 6 December at Forest Office Complex, Kohima.

The book is an initiative of Kohima Forest Division.

At the launch, Rajkumar M, IFS, DFO Kohima – who conceptualized the book – said people generally see Forest Colony, Kohima as a residential area with offices around but a huge part of the area is covered by forest which serves as a haven for the rich flora and fauna.

The idea behind this book is that by reading it people would want to contribute their part in conserving biodiversity, he said.

Rajkumar concluded by saying that this book would guide those who want to do bird watching in Kohima. He thanked Vedpal Singh, Chief Wildlife Warden, Nagaland for his support and his contribution of photos of the birds.

Dharmendra Prakash, IFS, congratulated the Division for the initiative and encouraged them to continue the good work.

The PCCF was immensely pleased to know that a variety of species of birds and trees are found in Forest Colony, Kohima. He encouraged the team to come up with more of such documentation in the future.

Nagaland Senior Forest officials and Kohima Forest Division team were present during the release of the book.
