The Konyak Students’ Union (KSU) has objected to the recent transfer of the lone Environmental Science (EVS) Assistant Professor from Wangkhao Government College, Mon stating that this move will severely compromise the academic structure of the college.
“This decision is both ill-conceived and highly detrimental, considering the already existing challenges faced by the college”, it stated.
In its press release, the KSU highlighted that Wangkhao Government College presently has 666 students and already suffers shortage of faculty. It pointed out that some of the fresh assistant professors were transferred without completing their probation period of two years without relievers and that the college has not yet seen the appointment of a principal after the retirement of the former two months ago.
The Union’s President Temwang and General Secretary A Pangnan urgently called on the concern department to immediately revoke the transfer order of the EVS Assistant Professor and to post sufficient asst. professors to ensure the smooth functioning of classes. Failure to address this issue promptly will compel the Union to take further action in the best interests of the students and the community at large, it added.
