Konyak Union Tizit Area today decided to temporarily lift the ongoing indefinite bandh with immediate effect from August 1 until the road construction is completed as per the Detail Project Report (DPR).

The decision comes following the positive response of the contractors, M/s Affluent Enterprise & Services for “wilfully” complying to the demands and resuming the road construction from today along the NH-702 (Namtola-Mon Road). Also, in a letter addressed to the Deputy Commissioner of Mon from M/S Affluent Enterprise & Services, it has assured that the 44 km road stretch (133.00km -177.00km) shall be made motorable by August 13, however, the bitumen works shall be done after the Monsoon season.

Irked by the deplorable road conditions along the National Highway 702 (Namtola-Mon road) the Konyak Union Tizit Area, Tizit Area Students Union and Tizit area Civil society organizations had imposed its first phase of agitation “Chakha Bandh” on 30th July which was followed by the 2nd phase of agitation, Indefinite Road block from August 1.
