The Kohima Village Council (KVC) has issued a public notice to all the denizens of Kohima city to kindly refrain from burning of natural forest, hunting of animals, fishing of various aquatic creatures, destruction of flora and fauna within the village traditional jurisdiction.
The notice comes following complains brought forward to KVC that “the nonresident or citizens of Kohima Village are seen loitering in the prohibited areas, hunting, fishing in the rivers and swamps, extracting various flora and fauna, fetching firewood etc in the prohibited areas of our jurisdiction”.
For years, the KVC had completely banned the burning of natural forest, hunting of animals, fishing of various aquatic creatures, destruction of flora and fauna within its village traditional jurisdiction. “The adopted resolution was strictly implemented and was in full adherence by all the concerned fellow citizens of our village. Our fellow men had respected the laid down resolution and heed to the rules imposed and swiftly adhered to the system,” asserted the press statement issued by Thejao Sekhose, Press and Media Secretary, KVC.
