The Ao Senden and the Ao Kaketshir Mungdang (AKM) have asked NSCN/GPRN (Khango-Hokato Vusshe) to stop the “persecution” of entrepreneur Aolemba Longkumer after the group accused him of corruption in the implementation of Micro and Small Enterprises Common Development (MSE-CDP).

In a statement, the Ao Senden said that Longkumer was not the sole contractor of the program and that the concerned department and Longkumer have already provided clarification on the status of the program. “The Ao Senden will not lie idle but take necessary measures when our bona fide citizens are being irrationally persecuted by any Naga political factions either by deeds or in words,” it stated.

The apex body of the Ao community also urged the Nagaland Government “to uphold the rule of law and not act blind and deaf when its citizens are under duress from Naga political factions in the implementation of government sponsored schemes but take necessary protective measures immediately.”

In a separate statement issued on 23 January 2025, the Ao Kaketshir Mungdang (AKM) reiterated the concern over the faction “singling out” Longkumer and stated that the” faction’s pattern of behavior has become increasingly troubling, evolving into a nuisance for the Naga society.”

Extending support to the entrepreneur who had earlier alleged received ₹50 lakh extortion demand from NSCN (Khango), the Ao Students’ Conference stated that it would not tolerate any group or faction threatening citizens under any pretext. “Any further threats or harassment directed at him will be taken very seriously and addressed accordingly,” AKM cautioned.

Further, it also questioned the silence and inaction of the State Government on the matter and sought assurance from the Nagaland Government “to ensure safety and dignity of individuals like Mr. Aolemba, who contributes meaningfully to society and also a strong and decisive action against groups and factions involved in intimidation, extortion, and harassment.”

If the elected government cannot uphold the rule of law, it forfeits its legitimacy to run the affairs of the state, the AKM added.
