The Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, has notified the mandatory document checklist for applicants seeking Language Proficiency Certificates in the 19 local languages/dialects identified by the Government of Nagaland.

The notification, issued in pursuance of a Home Department notification identifying the 19 local languages/dialects spoken in the State, requires applicants to submit an application on plain paper along with their Scheduled Tribe (ST) Certificate, Indigenous Inhabitant Certificate (IIC), Class 10/HSLC marksheet and a recommendation letter from the concerned Tribal Literature Board/Ura Academy. Other relevant supporting documents may also be furnished for verification.

The Language Proficiency Certificate will be officially issued by the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, the notification stated.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner, Wokha, has informed that Language Proficiency Certificates will be issued to indigenous inhabitants of Wokha district through the offices of the Deputy Commissioner, Wokha; Additional Deputy Commissioner, Bhandari; and Additional Deputy Commissioner, Sanis.

Applicants in Wokha district are required to submit their ST Certificate, Indigenous Inhabitant Certificate, HSLC/Class X Pass Certificate and two recent passport-size photographs for issuance of the certificate.

The Wokha Deputy Commissioner’s office clarified that the Language Proficiency Certificate will be issued solely for engagement as Gram Dak Sevak (GDS) under the Department of Posts, Ministry of Communications, Government of India.
