LFI College visits Nagaland Legislative Assembly & Secretariat

The Department of Political Science, Livingstone Foundation International (LFI) College visited the Nagaland Legislative Assembly on March 18 as part of their curriculum.

The field trip comprised of 35 students and faculty members. “Assembly staffs were assigned to guide the team around, the campus. Initially, the students were shown inside the Assembly Hall, and the proceedings of the house were explained in detail. They interacted with and posed queries to the officers in charge,” informed a press release by the LFI College.

The students were taken to the Chief Minister’s Office chamber and office, following which, the team visited the Legislators’ Home and then proceeded to the NLA Library, where students were permitted to browse through books and archives.

“The trip was an educational experience for students. They learned about the structure and functioning of the state government, witnessing firsthand how laws are made, debated, and passed in the legislative assembly. They gained insights into the roles and responsibilities of various government officials in the secretariat. Visiting the legislative assembly and secretariat enhanced students’ understanding of democracy, governance, and citizenship, emphasizing the importance of civic participation, the electoral process, and the significance of government institutions in a democratic society,” stated the college.

The visit also provided students with insights into Nagaland’s rich cultural heritage and unique history. For students interested in politics, public administration, law, or related fields, visiting the legislative assembly and secretariat offered valuable insights into potential career paths. “Overall, the visit was a wonderful experience for students, offering them valuable lessons in governance, democracy, civic education, and public policy,” added the college.
