Link Workers Scheme to support People Living with HIV and AIDS launched

Dr. Pritpal Kaur, IPS, SP Phek, on November 16 launched the Link Workers Scheme for people living with HIV and AIDS in Phek. In her address, Dr. Kaur highlighted the high prevalence of HIV/AIDS in Nagaland and emphasized the need for collective efforts from civil society organizations, NGOs, and government departments to address the issue. As a doctor, she stressed the importance of prevention, timely diagnosis, and ART (antiretroviral therapy) treatment.

Dr. Kaur also pointed out that individuals at higher risk, such as drug addicts, migrants, and others, require focused attention. She further discussed the HIV Act of 2017, which protects people living with HIV (PLHIV) from discrimination, and urged all stakeholders to work together to make Phek a district free from HIV and drug abuse.

Kuduvo Kezo, DPO Disha, provided an overview of the NACP (National AIDS Control Program) and NACO (National AIDS Control Organization) guidelines related to the Link Workers Scheme.

The program began with a welcome note from Yhunile, President of KNP+, and concluded with a vote of thanks by Tavikho, Zonal Supervisor. Levieteu Koza, DRP LWS Phek, chaired the event, which was attended by several public leaders and medical professionals.
