The Longjang Kaketshir Telungjem Mokokchung (LKTM) celebrated its 75th Platinum Jubilee on October 11, at the Town Hall Mokokchung.
Celebrated under the theme “Jangyumedem Shisashir” (comprehensive learners) , the event was graced by TN Mannen, Advisor for Law and Justice, Land Revenue, as the special guest, and Dr I Lanu Aier, Professor (Retd) NEHU, as the theme speaker of the event.
Delving on the theme of the jubilee, Dr I Lanu Aier, encouraged the youth to take responsibility to succeed in life through the education they have received. The transformative power of reading was emphasized by the theme speaker who drew attention to the decline in reading habits among the younger generation. “Even the habit of reading newspapers is waning,” stated Aier, encouraging the gathering to cultivate a passion for reading not just academic books but newspapers and other literatures. The need to develop curiousity and engaging in learning was also stressed. “In your journey of education, keep your eyes, ears, and mind open. Share what you learn with others,” concluded Dr. Aier.
In his address, Advisor TN Mannen, spoke on the importance of youth which is a crucial phase for discovering one’s talents and seizing opportunities. “It is during the youth that you must shape your future and the future of society,” said Mannen. The limitations of opportunities in the public sector was emphasised where the Advisor encouraged the students to considering alternative career paths early on in life.
