Longleng District TB forum conducts meeting

Longleng: DC reminds that medicines provided at DOT centres are free of cost

A meeting of the District Tuberculosis (TB) forum, Longleng was held at DC conference hall on 18th July 2024, DIPR has informed.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Commissioner and Chairman, District Health Society, Longleng, Dharam Raj, IAS congratulated the District Tuberculosis Officer and his team for the activities taken up by National TB Elimination Program in the district. He encouraged all the NGOs and Ward representatives to give proper awareness and disseminate the information to the people in the far flung villagers to avail the service from the DOT (Directly Observed Treatment) centres. The DC also requested everyone to be aware that the medicines provided are free of cost, and once the patients start the medicines, they have to complete the full course.

In his keynote address, Dr. Temsusashi, DTO, Longleng, who also chaired the program, gave a brief introduction on how TB is manifested and treated. He also spoke on the policy of the Government in implementing a national strategic plan to end Tuberculosis by 2025 which was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in March 2018.

Short speeches were delivered by Tongang, STS (NTEP), Meribeni Khuvung, PMDT-HIV Co-ordinator (NTEP), Longleng and Lita, DIS, Longleng.
