Lotha civil society serves ultimatum to Wokha District administration

The apex Lotha civil society organizations today served an ultimatum to the Deputy Commissioner of Wokha demanding to start work in the ongoing two-lane construction of NH-2 (Old NH-61) from KM 72.40 to KM 83.00, Wokha district within five days time.

An ultimatum letter signed by the Lotha Hoho, Lotha Eloe Hoho, Lotha Students’ Union, Wokha District Village Council Chairman Association, Joint Action Committee, and Wokha Town Colonies’ Chairmen Union, to the Deputy Commissioner of Wokha on February 1, demanded that the construction begin within five days from the date of publication in the various media forums.

Failing to comply, the letter stated, “We shall be compelled to announce indefinite bandh of the National Highway passing through Wokha district.”

With several discussions and negotiations being held on the issue by the various apex CSOs of the district and JAC, the letter stated, “The District Administration is hereby informed that this ultimatum is served with the condition that no further negotiation(s)/deliberation(s) on the same shall be entertained henceforth.”
