The Lotha Students’ Union (LSU) has expressed concern over reports of alleged ragging and bullying at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV), Chukitong under Wokha district and has urged the school’s Principal to take immediate action to address the issue.
In a letter, the LSU has appealed the Principal of JNV Chukitong to investigate the alleged incidents, identify the perpetrators, and take strict disciplinary action, including mandatory counselling or sensitivity training.
The Union has also requested the school “to establish a robust mechanism to prevent future occurrences” and suggested “creating a safe and confidential reporting system for victims, providing counselling and support services for affected students, conducting regular workshops and awareness programs on ragging and bullying, and ensuring strict adherence to anti-ragging laws and regulations.”
The Lotha Students’ Union has said that it would be closely monitoring the situation and would not hesitate to take further action to protect the rights and interest of the student community if its demands are not met.
