Loyola Hr Sec School Sports Meet underway in Kiphire

Loyola Higher Secondary School Kiphire annual sports meet 2026 began today on the theme “Victory through efforts”. The event was graced by Col Rajiv Sharma, Commandant, 30th Battalion Assam Rifles, Kiphire  as special guest, who was also accompanied by his lady wife.

Addressing the gathering, Col Sharma said that the theme “Victory through efforts” is not just a line, it is a way of life.

“Today is not just a sports theme but a test of character. In the armed forces, we don’t believe in shortcuts, we believe in efforts, discipline and sacrifice because there is no second chance in a battle field,” he said.

Sharma reminded the students that what they do here today would define what one would become tomorrow.

Asking if one is giving his 100 percent, or is willing to come back even when he falls down, he said that should be the spirit of any men look alive and walking, not giving up.

Lauding the Nagas in general for being courageous and resilience in character, and strong spirit, he appraised the students not to give up in life and studies making the people proud.

He emphasized the value of hard work, stating that “we don’t believe in shortcuts, but we believe in efforts.” He encouraged students to work diligently, reminding them that consistent effort makes difficult tasks easier. He further added, “A true winner is the one who refuses to quit,” leaving a lasting impression on everyone.

The formal program was chaired by Marcus and Meribeni, while invocation from Alice, Vice president, opening remark from Philip Magh, Principal,  Oath taking by Salew (sports and games co-ordinator), grand March past from scout and guides, which was followed by contingents, vote of thanks from Salew, National Anthem from primary school, which was followed by declaration of annual sports meet, 2026 by the special guest, exhibition match : Tug of war (Alumni & Parents Vs Teachers with special guest) both male and female.

The occasion was graced by the presence of Rev Fr John Poji the principal of St Xavier Hr Sec School, Shamator, Rev Fr Thomas Toretkiu, the principal of St John School, Kiusam Town. Church Council of St Peter’s Church, Kiphire, Alumni,  School Managing Board, representative from USSC, KASU, parents and well wishers.

The school annual sports day is scheduled for three days from April 16 to 18.
