‘Made in Noklak Woodstove’ by innovator Tumong launched

Noklak: Tumong bags Runners-Up position during Nagaland Start Up Green Innovation Challenge held at Youth Net Office

The Thang Students’ Union organised a launching program for the ‘Made in Noklak Woodstove’ by Tumong, an innovator from Noklak Village on Tuesday at White Hall, Noklak Village. Deputy Commissioner, Noklak, Arikumba, NCS inaugurated the woodstove as the Special Guest of the event.

The DC congratulated Tumong for the success in his innovative idea which is both economical and eco-friendly. He gave due credit to the strong determination of the woodstove and lauded him for being an asset to the district and urged him to continue to be an inspiration to the youths. Further, Arikumba expressed hope Tumong’s innovative ideas will help the district at large in the future.

The DC also said that the District Administration will assist the innovator in every possible way for his future endeavours. Stressing on the unemployment problem prevailing in the state and government jobs being saturated, the DC urged students to be sincere and dedicated in their goals.

While presenting his innovation, Tumong mentioned that the Woodstove is eco-friendly, economic and can be used in cooking, boiling etc. He expressed his appreciation towards the Former DC, Noklak, Reny Wilfred and former SP Noklak, Pritpal Kaur and other individuals who had guided and motivated him in various ways.

Tumong had bagged the Runners-Up during the Nagaland Start Up Green Innovation Challenge held at Youth Net Office, Dimapur on 16 August 2023. Besides ‘Made in Noklak Woodstove’, the innovator has also innovated ‘Wheels of Noklak’ (electric bike) and a cooking cum drying machine in the recent years.

Nyeipa Phom, Functional Manager, Sub-District Industries Centre (SDIC), Noklak commended Tumong for making great achievements despite the limited resources. Phom assured that the department will help in all the possible ways and urged Tumong to have patent rights of his innovation.

Vice President, Khiamniungan Tribal Council (KTC), Khaoshai lauded Tumong for being different despite the issue of many youths involved in anti-social elements. Khaoshai also encouraged the students to polish their talents and not be consumed by pride.

Vice President, Khiamniungan Students Union (KSU), Indhe Lam urged the youths to take advantage of technology and become an asset to the society rather than becoming slave to technology. Lam also stressed on creating opportunities to youths because young people have creative minds.

The launching program was attended by various HoDs, apex bodies, school students and other individuals.
