Manipur security forces moved out from Kezoltsa: Tenyimi Peoples’ Organization

The Tenyimi Peoples’ Organisation (TPO) on Sunday informed that police personnel both civil and armed have left/moved out from their camps at the disputed Kezoltsa/ Kozürü/Kazing.

In a press statement, the TPO mentioned that the President and officials of Tenyimi Peoples’ Organisation accompanied by the President, Nagaland Zeliang Peoples’ Organisation, General Secretary Rengma Hoho and the President, Tenyimi Union Dimapur visited Kezoltsa/ Kozürü/Kazing on March 16. On inspection, the team found that all the police personnel both civil and armed had moved out from their camps.

On March 15, the Mao Council had written to the TPO disclosing on relocation of Police Station (PS) outside the dispute area.

“The Mao Council has been informed through the Hon’ble MLA of Mao A/C by the Chief Secretary, Manipur, late last night i.e. 14th March, 2024, that the PS in the dispute area will be relocated to an undisputed area today i.e. the 15th March 2024,” stated the letter issued by N. Athikho Joseph, President, Mao Council.

The letter also mentioned that the Mao Council visited the site, identified for the relocation and observed that necessary arrangements for the relocation had been conducted.

Earlier, the Southern Angami Public Organization (SAPO) on March 6 had directed Mao citizens residing within Angami jurisdiction in Kohima to return to their respective native villages as per customary norm, following the failure of the Mao Council to vacate and withdraw the Manipur security forces which was established at the disputed Kezoltsa.

The SAPO had justified that the order had been necessitated to de-escalate pent up tensions, prevent untoward incidents and for safety and protection of Mao citizens, living under the Angami jurisdiction.
