Man’s body found near Chungtia Village; Police register unnatural death case

The dead body of a 48-year-old man was found near a culvert along the road to Chungtia village on Sunday afternoon, prompting police to register a case of Unnatural Death.

The deceased has been identified as Imrongtuden Jamir, son of late Rev. L. Aomangyang, a native of Changtongya village and resident of Alongmen Ward, Mokokchung.

Police from PS-II Mokokchung received information about the body and dispatched a team to the scene, located approximately one kilometre before Chungtia village. The body was found lying beside a drainage structure.

After conducting on-site formalities, police brought the body to the station. However, the family declined a post-mortem examination and the body was released to them for the last rites.

An Unnatural Death case has been registered under PS-II Mokokchung UD Case No. 0002/2025, as per Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023. The cause of death remains under investigation, and authorities have not ruled out any possibilities.
