Additional Deputy Commissioner Medziphema, James Swu has issued a circular in view of the onset Monsoon season and as a pre-monsoon preparedness measure. A mass social work is being organized on May 21 from 6 a.m. onward with an aim to foster a sense of unity and responsibility among all citizens towards a cleaner and healthier Chumukedima, and further to promote cleanliness and community engagement to a clean and welcoming environment.
The ADC said mass social work would focus on unclogging of drainage, clearance of construction material & debris, clearance of foliage, waste disposal, and cleaning and upkeep of public spaces & utilities. All shops and business establishments would remain closed from 6 a.m. to 12 noon.

Head of Offices and Institutions have been asked to mobilize their officers and staff under their respective authority to clean their office/institution premises and contagious areas, all the citizens of the sub-division to organize themselves to clean their respective houses, neighbourhoods, lanes and roads. Further, all shopkeepers adjacent to public roads have been asked to clean the drainages and roads in their area. Town Councillors, Village Councils and Colony GBs to supervise the cleanliness drive, Medziphema Town Council and the various Village Councils shall be in-charge of garbage/debris disposal.
