Massive fire destroys commercial hub of Tuensang town

The main commercial area of Tuensang Town was gutted down in an unfortunate incident on February 14 at around 10:00 Pm . The exact cause of the fire is still unknown but according to witnesses the fire sparked from a residential home located at Bazaar A Ward 6.

The incident razed down several business stores including thrift shops, tea hotels, godownn, garment shops and also some residential houses.

Imlikaba, Chairman Bazaar A in his statement informed that the incident has caused a major loss to the business community while rendering some families homeless. Due to the windy season, within a short period of time the fire spread further to some extending commercial site, he added.

While the details of the number of shops and homes destroyed in the fire are yet to be assessed, approximately 15 Shops, ten Godowns have been burnt down to ashes, the Chairman added, along with cash properties worth lakhs have been lost.

The Chairman of Bazaar A thanked the public of Tuensang and Muslim Masjid community for rendering their help during such devastating time.

The Tuensang Fire service and Assam Rifles with their prompt action doused of the fire and prevented further damages. No casualties reported so far.
