The Mokokchung Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) has urged everyone to celebrate the festive season responsibly. “It is our hope that nobody faces heartache because of anybody’s irresponsibility,” stated the MCCI in a press release on November 30.
It cautioned all members of the business community in Mokokchung not to indulge in unfair and unethical business practices taking undue advantage of the festive mood. “Any trader found tarnishing the image of the business community by indulging in unfair means of business shall be dealt with stringently,” stated the MCCI.

It has also issued the following directives :
1. Members of the business community are also warned against transporting, stocking and selling firecrackers.
2. Members of the business community are also urged not to park their vehicles in front of their shops and establishments so as to make parking spaces available to our esteemed customers.
3. Further, selling of calendars, tickets of any kind, raffle, buffet vouchers, housie, etc. to members of the business community in the market by any entity is strictly prohibited.
4. Summoning, informing, calling or inviting members of the business community to seek donations and contribution, whether in cash or kind, by any agency – whether government or NGO – in Mokokchung without the knowledge and consent of MCCI is deemed coercion, which is illegal and therefore not permissible.
