Mecievi Khieya signs professional contract with Thonburi United FC

Mecievi Khieya, a young football player from Jakhama, Kohima has signed a contract with Thai professional side, Thonburi United FC.

Khieya will be the very first player from Northeast to display his skills in the Thai League, informed an official update by Patrick Brixner, Project Coordinator, SC Nagaland Thonburi United.

The athlete was scouted by the Thonburi United staff who visited Kohima earlier this year to conduct the Nagaland’s Next Top Player in partnership with the Department of Youth Resources and Sports Nagaland, Nagaland Football Association and SC Nagaland.

Being the first ever Naga player to sign a professional contract and to play in one of the major divisions in Thailand, Mecievi has joined the club activities recently and represented Thonburi United in two friendly matches already.

Initially his contract will last until the first half of the Thai League 3, with an extension clause according to Mecievi’s performances.

Thonburi United is extremely excited to open their doors for Mecievi and hope to create more opportunities for young Naga talents in the near future, stated the update.
