Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle (RRR) centres were inaugurated under the ‘Meri Life Mera Swachh Shehar’ campaign at Aboi Town in Mon district and at Longleng Town in Longleng district on Saturday, DIPR informed.
At Aboi Town, ADC and Administrator Aboi Town Council, Phuleshe K Yepthomi, NCS inaugurated the RRR centres at the Council Hall. Yepthomi emphasized the importance of waste items that can be recycled and reused to not only suit the environment but also help in minimizing waste products as a whole. This approach is economical on an individual level as well as on a community level, he stated.
Yepthomi further urged the gathering to make use of the RRR centre that has been established in all the wards of Aboi and also to make use of the concept of Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle not only for now but also for in the days to come.
Chairing the program, Arhomo Yanthan, SDO(C), Aboi welcomed the attendees and addressed the activities and targets of the RRR Campaign.

At Longleng Town, the event was chaired by ADC and Administrator Longleng Town Council Alongdhimen Jamir.
During the event, SDO Civil Trongdiba Tongpi Sangtam exhorted the gathering regarding the importance of such a centre with the idea that reusable items can be brought to use. He mentioned that similar centres shall be set up in all existing Wards and Points with the support of wards leaders and the public.
A brief presentation was given by Isaac, MIS, Swachh Bharat Mission, Longleng.
The event was attended by a host of NGOs which included Longleng Town Ward Union, Phomla Hoichem, Phom Students Conference, Chambers of Commerce and Industries along with Dobashis and Gaonburas.
Additionally, the gathering also resolved to set up a Rate Fixation Committee of various stakeholders for the welfare of the business community and consumers.
RRR centre is a conceptualized one-stop solution for citizens for implementation of sustainable waste management and promoting a clean town. Citizens can donate/Deposit old clothes, toys, shoes, furniture, books, plastic items, and other reusable items. Once collected, items will then be handed over to different stakeholders to be refurbished for reuse and would then be made into new products.
