Mezoma Students’ Union holds Cultural cum Literary Day

The Mezoma Students’ Union (MSU) organized a Cultural cum Literary Day on October 11 at Phehinu, Mezoma Village. The main objective the event was to celebrate and preserve the rich cultural heritage of the village while also engage in the promotion tourism.

Silievi Kehie, President MSU in his welcome address acknowledged all the three schools for actively participating in the program and consistently being apart of the Union.

Gracing the program as Special Guest was Keduosieü Metha,  Director of Tourism, Govt. of Nagaland. Speaking on the occasion, Metha encouraged the villagers to preserve the flora and fauna to create awareness on forest preservation and to maintain ecological balance.

Addressing the participants, Metha encourage the students to obey their teachers and follow the good practices passed on to them. Acknowledging the beautiful landscapes and scenery surrounding the Mezoma, Metha advised the students and the whole village community to practice cleanliness and keep the village and its surroundings clean.  While stressing on promoting tourism within Nagaland, Metha appreciated the MSU for organizing such programs to promote and preserve the cultural identity of its people.

Announcing that the Nagaland Tourism Association (NTA) plans to introduce the village walk (Thekrapie) at Mezoma Village during the Hornbill Festival, Metha urged the citizens to build homestays and promote hands on practice of household chores the traditional way.

The informal session comprised of various competitions where students from the three schools of Mezoma village and one school from Mezo basa participated. Students participated in Cultural items like Ketsükekhou, Pithu, Seguo miki, Nuo kepfü pezekecü, Thasü kepu, Theno and many more. The event concluded with prize distribution which was conducted by Rokovito Kitshü, VDB Secy. Mezoma.

The program was chaired by Mhiesisekho, Convenor Organizing Committee, while invocation was delivered by Javitso Lhousa, Associate Pastor Mezoma Baptist Church.
