MGM College, affiliated to Nagaland University, celebrated its 7th Graduation Ceremony at the college auditorium on September 9, marking a significant milestone for the graduating batch as they stepped into a new phase of life filled with opportunities, challenges and responsibilities.
Dr Kevezai Tureng, Director, College Development Council (CDC), Nagaland University, who graced the occasion as Special Guest, urged the graduates to enter the next chapter of their lives with confidence, integrity, commitment and a strong sense of responsibility. He encouraged them to translate their education into meaningful careers and become responsible citizens who contribute positively to society and the nation.
The ceremony commenced with an academic procession, lighting of the lamp and the college anthem, followed by an invocation and opening remarks by Principal Dr RK Behera, who formally declared the 7th Graduation Ceremony open.
Dr Behera stressed that education should extend beyond securing employment and serve as a foundation for character formation, leadership, social responsibility and nation-building. Fr Shaiju Philip, Administrator, delivered the welcome address, while Dr Behera felicitated the Special Guest. The college choir added to the celebratory atmosphere with a special performance titled “Glorious”.
A major highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of graduates, conducted by Fuchumo Yanthan, Head of the Department of History. Siamthianmawi of the Department of English received the C Khalong Ao and Dr I Talitemsula Running Trophy and Cash Award for securing the highest CGPA in the college.
The Parents-Teachers Association also presented a cash award to L. Annastacia Dangshawa of the Department of Economics for securing the second-highest CGPA, recognising her academic achievement and encouraging her to strive for greater excellence.

The Graduation Oath was administered by Jemsungba Walling, IQAC Coordinator, reminding the graduates of their responsibility to uphold the values and ideals of the institution. Representing the graduating batch, Lamleba Sangtam, Batch of 2026, shared reflections and experiences from their years at MGM College.
The programme also featured a special musical performance by Temjen Longkumer, Assistant Professor, Department of Education, followed by an address by Prof Tankeswar Gohain, Nominee of Nagaland University to MGM College.
The speakers reminded the graduates that graduation marked not the end of their academic journey but the beginning of a new chapter, urging them to carry forward the values of discipline, perseverance, humility and service cultivated during their time at the institution.
The ceremony was attended by members of the Governing Body, Parents-Teachers Association, Alumni Association, guardians, faculty and staff, and well-wishers. The programme concluded with a closing speech by Lisathung Ozung, Dean of Students, followed by the benediction by Mhonlumo T Tsopee, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics, and the National Anthem.
