MGM College, Dimapur, organised a special session on UNICEF YuWaah’s “Passport to Earning (P2E) – Digital Skilling Initiative” in collaboration with YouthNet and UNICEF YuWaah at the college auditorium on September 29.

The session aimed to sensitise students to digital learning, emerging technologies, employability skills and opportunities to transition from learning to earning in an increasingly digital-driven job market.

Welcoming the participants, IQAC Coordinator Jemsungba Walling highlighted the growing importance of relevant digital competencies in the rapidly changing professional environment. He encouraged students to actively use available digital learning platforms and continuously upgrade their skills to prepare for future academic and career opportunities.

The session was led by Ranlubo Thiumai, Resource Person, who introduced students to the UNICEF YuWaah P2E initiative. He explained that the programme is designed to equip young people, particularly those in the 15–29 age group, with practical digital skills and connect digital learning with opportunities for employability and earning.

A key focus of the programme was the use of digital productivity tools and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Thiumai demonstrated how AI-powered applications can help automate routine tasks, enhance productivity, save time and enable users to work more efficiently.

Participants were also introduced to the learning opportunities and digital resources available through the P2E platform. A step-by-step demonstration of the registration process was conducted, covering account creation, platform navigation, access to learning resources and pursuit of relevant digital credentials.

Students were encouraged to make full use of the platform and develop digital competencies that could strengthen their employability and prepare them for emerging career opportunities.

The interactive session provided students with practical exposure to digital skilling, AI-enabled productivity, online learning and employability, while encouraging them to move beyond conventional classroom learning and take greater responsibility for their professional development.

The programme reaffirmed MGM College’s commitment to equipping students with relevant knowledge, digital competencies and employability skills in line with the changing demands of higher education and the world of work.
