MGM College, Dimapur, organised a special training session on “IBM SkillsBuild for Adult Learners” at the college auditorium on September 29, with Kamalesh Krishnaraj, Soft Skills Trainer, Edunet Foundation, as the Resource Person.
The programme aimed to familiarise participants with skill-based learning opportunities and equip them with competencies relevant to personal, academic and professional development.
The programme was chaired by Christine Murry, Assistant Professor, Department of English. It commenced with an invocation by Elithung Kikon, Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology, followed by a welcome address by Jemsungba Walling, IQAC Coordinator.
Adding vibrancy to the programme, the Red Ribbon Club presented a flash mob, creating an engaging atmosphere for the participants.
During the main training session, Krishnaraj introduced participants to IBM SkillsBuild and explained the range of skill-based courses and digital learning resources available through the platform. He demonstrated the registration and course enrolment process and guided participants on accessing tutorials, learning materials and certification-oriented resources.

Emphasising the importance of continuous learning, Krishnaraj highlighted how digital skill development can enhance personal capabilities, academic performance, workplace readiness and long-term career growth.
The interactive session encouraged participants to make effective use of online learning platforms and continuously upgrade their skills in response to the rapidly changing digital environment.
The programme concluded with a benediction delivered by A Kailang Phom, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science.
The college stated that the training was part of its efforts to promote digital literacy, continuous learning and employability among students and participants, while encouraging them to explore IBM SkillsBuild for acquiring new skills, earning credentials and preparing for future academic and professional opportunities.
