MLA Benei Lamthiu inaugurates Public Ground and new building of GMS Yokao in Noklak

Noklak: MLA hopes that Public Ground will bless and produce many professional sportspersons in future

Benei M Lamthiu, MLA 57 Thonoknyu Assembly Constituency, inaugurated the Public Ground at Yokao Village in Noklak District on Monday. The MLA also inaugurated the new building of the Government Middle School Yokao at the event.

In his address as Special Guest, Lamthiu emphasized giving equal importance to education and sports and appreciated the Village Council for providing the platform to the youths of Yokao. Asserting that most of the Khiamniungan youngsters have high interest in games and sports, Lamthiu stated that the community should also be far sighted as government job is saturating.

The MLA pointed out that that political developmental projects and governmental projects should be distinguished and clarified that the Yokao Public Ground comes under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).

Lamthiu who is also the General Secretary of Nagaland Football Association said that the ground is not just for the Yokao community but for the neighbouring village as well and hoped that the Public Ground will bless and produce many professional sportspersons in the future. He also urged the Department of School Education to look into the concern of the newly constructed Government Middle School building at the earliest.

 

Yenbemo Lotha, Sub-Divisional Education Officer (SDEO) Noklak, challenged the community to remove the ‘Backward Tag’ stating that the people are only economically backward. Lotha also emphasized that good roads lead to more developmental activities and advised the community to wisely choose their leader. Further, he highlighted the New Education Policy that balances Education and Sports.

P. Shillem, GB, Yokao highlighted the financial expenditure on constructing the public ground. He also appreciated the villagers who generously gave away their land to accommodate the space for the ground.

Earlier, Village Council, Yokao presented a memorandum to MLA Benei M Lamthiu urging the MLA to look into the matter of construction of a restroom and fencing at the newly inaugurated public ground, which Lamthiu assured to complete by 2024.

As part of the event, a culture dance was displayed by Pathso Cultural Club and an exhibition match was played between Longshioking FC and Vision FC which the latter won 3-1.

Earlier, the program was chaired by K Chongkoi, T Lusang, Deacon pronounced invocation, welcome address was given by C Khomo, VCC, special number was presented by Sangchem and friends, vote of thanks by S Khomo Head GB and benediction by C Nuchai, Associate Pastor.
