Model Hr Sec School observes Moatsü festival

Model Higher Secondary School, Mokokchung Town, with over 200 students, celebrated an advance Moatsü Festival at the school campus on April 30. The programme was organised to promote awareness and appreciation of Ao culture and indigenous traditions among the students.

Chubaienla, from the Education delivered a brief address on the significance of the Moatsü Festival. She also highlighted the importance of preserving cultural heritage and passing it on to future generations.

The celebration included various traditional games and activities in which the students actively participated. Indigenous activities such as tug-of-war, bamboo stilt walking, making yarn from wool, and traditional wrestling brought excitement among the participants, which also provided an opportunity to exchange ideas and learn traditional skills from one another, developing a sense of unity.

Teachers and staff also joined the celebration, guiding and encouraging the students to embrace their cultural roots.

Asang, Mathematics teacher, pronounced the invocation. A duet was presented during the programme by students’ Takasenla and Watinaro while students of Classes 8, 9 and 10 performed a traditional Ao folk dance.
