Mokokchung joined the global celebration of International Women’s Day today, celebrating the theme “Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress”. Organized by Watsü Mungdang, the apex body of Ao Women’s Organisation, in collaboration with District Administration, Nagaland State Rural Livelihood Mission (NSRLM), and other key stakeholders, the event took place at Town Hall Mokokchung, radiating a spirit of inclusion and empowerment.
Rachel Jamir, Associate Pastor for Women at Kumlong Mokokchung, speaking in line with this year’s celebration theme “Inspire Inclusion,” said, “Inspire Inclusion means the inclusion of all people, be they women, men, of all colours of life, without any differentiation.” She emphasized, “Yes, I am a woman, and as a Christian, I am fearfully and wonderfully made in the image of God, and one should praise God for this.”
The theme “Inspire Inclusion” sends a message to all women to encourage, motivate, and inspire each other, breaking barriers that hinder women’s independence and advocating for their rights and societal betterment. Rachel underscored the importance of recognizing women’s work and contributions, acknowledging their dignity of labor, and ensuring their collective participation.
She addressed the challenges in patriarchal societies and stressed the need to recognize women’s efforts, urging women to inspire themselves and break barriers for present and future generations. Rachel emphasized the importance of women becoming history-makers by supporting and encouraging one another in their endeavours.
In acknowledging reality, Rachel highlighted the prevalence of inferiority complexes between males and females in society, urging against letting such complexes prevail. She emphasized the significance of uplifting rather than discouraging one another, filtering the good from what the world offers, and fostering inclusion among women.
Rachel concluded by urging everyone to contribute to inspiring one another and cautioned against behaviours that do not promote inclusion, such as pranking each other.

Highlighting the significance of recognizing women’s contributions, Moatoshi, Assistant District Program Manager, NSRLM, Mokokchung, underscored the strides made by the National State Rural Livelihood Mission, establishing numerous Self Help Groups (SHGs) across the district.
Addressing the pressing issue of domestic violence, Imlichila, Officer Incharge Women Police Station, Mokokchung, stressed the importance of seeking help and guidance. She also cautioned against social media scams targeting women, advocating for heightened awareness.
Tsükjemangla, Nursing Superintendent IMDH Mokokchung, shed light on the pivotal role of nurses in society, urging for stronger public relationships. Watitemjen, representing Mokokchung District Legal Services Authority, highlighted the legal services available for safeguarding women’s rights.
Moamenla Longkumer, District Mission Coordinator District Hub for Empowerment of Women Mission Shakti, reflected on the essence of International Women’s Day, emphasizing its significance in advancing gender equality.
Moazungla, Gender CRP NSRLM, Mokokchung, shared her journey of achievements, inspiring others with her testimony. ANM School of Nursing, Impur Christian Hospital, delivered a special performance titled “Inspire Inclusion”.
Asola Ozüküm, Vice President Watsü Mungdang, chaired the program, fostering an atmosphere of collaboration and unity. Rev. Temsüwati, Assoc. Pastor, MTBA, led the invocation, invoking blessings upon the gathering.
