Mokokchung College of Teacher Education celebrate ‘Fusion Fest’

The Mokokchung College of Teacher Education celebrated its first college “Fusion Fest” under the theme “Navigating Our Roots” on Tuesday at the college premises. It is a four days event from 27th February-1st March, 2024, DIPR informed.

Cultural and Literary Competitions were held on Day-1 which was graced by P. Tiatemsu, Assistant Professor, Department of Botany, Fazl Ali College, and Advisor, Arju Centres, Mokokchung as the Special Guest.

Addressing the gathering, the Special Guest stressed on three aspects, which he believes, is worth navigating upon: work culture, traditional knowledge and community life. He underscored the importance of upholding our intangible cultural aspects which are passed through generations like family traditions, social events, skills, arts and most importantly the values which ironically is in grave danger, according to him.

Tiatemsu underlined that it is our ardent duty to take the responsibility of spreading our rich cultural knowledge to the next generation. He also encouraged the students to emphasize on hard work, to be resilient, to have purpose in life and to have indigenous knowledge.

The other highlights of the program included welcome address by Dr T. Alemla Longkumer, Principal, MCTE, events’ highlights by Maongsunep Kichu, General Secretary, Mokokchung College of Teacher Education Students’ Union (MCTESU) and a special presentation entitled ‘Naga Lima” by Imnasenla. The programme was chaired by Onenla Jamir while Chongten President, Campus Dwellers’ Fellowship invoked God’s blessings.

The four days events included competitions like traditional fire making, extempore, folktale narration, duet, indigenous games and sports, stall exhibition and sales including musical spectacle.
