During a press conference held today at the DC office’s Conference Hall, Chairman Thsuvisie Phoji emphasized the significance of creating a platform for unemployed youths, inviting financial institutions, private companies, and public sector undertakings (PSUs) from different parts of Nagaland and India.

Phoji informed that this Mega Job Expo is a pioneering effort in Mokokchung district, open to all job seekers in the state, not limited to a specific region or community. Chairman Phoji expressed the intention to continue this initiative in the coming years.

Interested participants, including job givers and institutions, are encouraged to register through the provided link https://connectingcareers.org/ or contact +91 87308 65974 and +91 82570 46496.

Secretary Er T Imlisunep Ao highlighted the expo’s focus on three components: job seekers, aspiring entrepreneurs, and individuals showcasing their skills. It was also informed that the event will also feature stalls and exhibitions, supporting local entrepreneurs, and promoting financial literacy among young entrepreneurs and self-help groups.

The venue, Fazl Ali College, situated 5 km from Mokokchung town, has been re-accredited with Grade “A” by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in 2022. The college, known for its excellence in academia, collaborates with the DPDB, Mokokchung, to host this unique mega job fair, contributing to community extension services and nation-building.

The Mega Job Expo 2024 in Mokokchung aims to address unemployment among the educated youth population in Nagaland, responding to studies indicating a significant gap between job opportunities and the growing workforce. With 58.5% of Nagaland’s population being of working age, a potential advantage of 6.3% in additional workforce is noted compared to the rest of the country. The district of Mokokchung, hosting the expo, holds 47% of the working population, yet faces concerns about unemployment among educated youth. The initiative seeks to bridge this gap by connecting job seekers with potential employers, offering a platform for skill showcase and entrepreneurship, and promoting financial literacy.
